Illustrations and design for middle grade book by award-winning author Steve Metzger. In the early spring when Steve contacted me I did not suspect how much fun it would be to work with him. To bridge the East and West Coast (Steve lives in New York City and I in San Francisco Bay Area) we had a weekly meeting via Skype or phone. After several sketches and versions Dorothy and Toto, we both were satisfied with the results and I started to work on the rest of the book. You can see almost all of the most important characters in color on the front and back covers. Inside, each of the 20 chapters has a whimsical greyscale illustration.
Curious and sometimes opinionated, Toto is always a loyal friend of Dorothy. Young readers will love Steve Metzger’s sense of humor and enjoy Toto and Dorothy’s adventures.
