Happy to introduce fellow professionals working in the publishing industry

ERIKA  M. WEINERT

COPY EDITOR

I am a passionate wordsmith – from the commas and semicolons to the subject-verb agreements, spotting errors in text comes second nature to me, giving me that nerdy edge I felt was a curse when I was young. As an adult, I embrace the nerd within.

I tend to combine copy and line editing because my keen eye tends to be a catchall. My focused attention to detail is unparalleled, as well as my dedication and follow through on projects. As I approach each new editing assignment with the author in mind, my philosophy is to maintain the author’s authenticity. For instance, there are times I will restructure a sentence; however, in doing so, the writer’s distinguished uniqueness remains.

My copy-editing skills have been put to work with manuscripts and websites alike. The books I have edited are for a self-published author who is also a paranormal investigator in Santa Cruz, California, and I have edited websites that range from work-at-home companies to those in the flooring industry.

Whether it is a fiction or nonfiction book, or a small-business website, it doesn’t take much to make a piece of writing interesting to me. Though, I am a fan of horror, so if you have a manuscript that you think is too scary, I am probably your target audience.
