I closed my eyes and let the sunshine peaking through the green leaves tickle my face. Grandma and I would often go to the forest, we lived only four houses away. I watched her bending and diligently moving her sickle harvesting the juicy grass. I would help to heap it on her big purple table cloth. The bunnies at home will have a feast.
I collected cones, looked for flowers or just sat and stared wishfully into the darkest part of the greenery. If I look hard enough I might catch a glimpse of a faery or goblin. When you are five, nothing is impossible. Fairy tale creatures did not show their faces but occasionally we saw deer dashing though the shrubs or heard the boars trotting among the trees looking for wet places.
Childhood memories still inspire my nature illustrations.
